Kristen Armstrong

Kansas City, Missouri

I was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas, where I lived until I moved to Wichita, Kansas to finish my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Having worked in the legal field in high school and the first two years of college, I knew it was something I enjoyed and wanted to pursue.

I am a law student at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law and am focusing in Probate and Trust Litigation, Guardianships and Conservatorships, and general elder law. In addition to my post graduate education, I also have my paralegal certificate.

I worked in the financial sector for a few years while completing my Bachelor's Degree by taking evening classes at Wichita State (go Shockers!) When my husband's job transferred us to Kansas City, I began my search for a job in the legal field. The one and only job I applied for landed me in a firm that focuses in the areas of Probate, Estate & Trust Litigation, Guardianship and Conservatorships, Estate Planning, Elder Law and Probate and Trust Litigation. When some of the attorneys left that firm, I joined them at another firm where I continued to work in the same areas of the law.

In April 2014, Burge Law, LLC was created and I joined Michelle Burge in narrowing the focus to probate and trust litigation. We are a great team and I assist Michelle as her paralegal & law clerk and we work hard to help our clients during an often emotional time in their lives - after the death of a loved one.

The best part of being a law student, paralegal & law clerk, and mom is that no two days are ever the same.

I am active in my church, and youth in the 4-H program. Until recently, I was a 12 year member of the State 4-H Photography Action Team, resigning only because of a new baby and law school. I hope to be involved with the program again in the future.

I am a member of the UMKC Estate and Trusts Society; Older, Wiser Law Students; and The Midwest Innocence Project.

Outside of work and school, my family is my number one priority and I enjoy playing on the floor, laughing, and snuggling with my little one. I also enjoy photography - something I have enjoyed since my youth.
