Kristen A. (Titera) Garcia

First, I had a lot of surgery... arms, hands, knees, feet, to improve my function, mobility & appearance so I'd only be limited by my imagination.

I'm good at calculating distance simply by looking, because being born with short, curved arms has required it ever since I can remember for things like reaching and using tools. I've learned to do most tasks, but as I needed, not exactly as I was shown because my parents and teachers could only show how they did things; it was up to me to decide how I could or would do them, and it's up to me to ask for help when it makes sense for a situation. I take care of myself and work hard to raise my 3 kids well. I drive a Suburban, fix/clean up 3-4 meals each day. Sometimes I get stressed and have to remember to allow myself to be different/ respected 4 being me.

I could tell you the hardships I've had, but I prefer not to delve into my past here, only to look ahead. I've had a longer road to traverse before learning how to use my body for everyday tasks but now I look forward to becoming more physically active with my kids, and more socially involved with new friends and with my extended family if the opportunity presents itself. I'd also like to provide photography services to other families, both as photographer, and as an instructor if it's appropriate and feasible.

I LOVE taking photos and writing about the best parts of my experiences and memories. I like drawing, and designing things on the computer, as well as singing and creating planned memorable activities to enjoy on both sides of a camera lens. More broadly speaking, when challenges come up, I usually must think outside the conventions of most ways things are used in order to work through tough situations to find the best solutions I can.

I'm careful by nature. I like details, and I'm learning to get the bulk of a task done before fine-tuning the smaller parts of it. Learning... working on it. One thing you can count on though is my willingness to continue at something until my high standards are met, which may be a while... but I get there. I love tortoises, love roses, and love taking pictures because "what you see is what you get"... and afterwards, it's what you do with what you got that counts.
