Kristie Beukes

Roodepoort, Gauteng, South Africa

My name is Kristie Domenique Beukes, I am currently in my third year of studies. My subject specialization is Arts and Culture and Visual Art. I matriculated in 2011 at Krugersdorp High School, with one distinction in visual art.
My reason for becoming an Art educator is because it is more than just a calling. It is more than an inherited career in my family because both of my parents are educators on the West Rand. My real reason for becoming an educator is to be a role model and someone learners can depend on for the skills they need to develop. To help learners to see what I see and use an open box world to explore topics and artworks.
My interests are in the art field. Also photography and music would be my interests as well. I love history and exploring what happened before my time. I am also a nature lover so you can imagine what my subject matter would be in both photography and my paintings. I also believe that art should also create emotion and movement.
I am currently employed as a Swim school teacher on the West Rand were I teach basic water safety and swimming skills. It is only a part time job on a Saturday.
