Kristie Velasco is a teacher, activist, higher education administrator, entrepreneur, and media consultant with a lifelong passion for learning. A multifaceted woman, the unique trajectory of Velasco’s career path has taken her from non profits, to government, to law, to media, to academia, all fueled by the commitment to combat injustice, create more opportunities and to eradicate the effects of past discrimination and oppression through advocacy, education and the media.

Her main passion lies in teaching, where Kristie Velasco prizes the contributions being made by her students, only second to her own children, and vehemently believes that empowerment and advancement can happen in the Latino and other communities of color through education and media literacy.

With a BA in Psychology and Political Science from Boston College and a Juris Doctorate from the New York Law School, Velasco set on a career path that took her from working at Aspira of New York, Inc., to teaching in a Media Management MBA program at Metropolitan College of New York and academic administration at SUNY's Westchester Community College after her tenure as Program Director at MCNY and opening CACICA, where she has tackled each role with the same passion that fuels her drive to positively change the world. At present, Kristie Velasco has recently completed M.Sc in Business Management and Leadership and is working on her DBA at Wilmington University. She is a lifelong learner who’s seeks to acquire knowledge and contribute to the body of academic scholarship so that she may teach those in greatest need and help improve a life or two in the process.
