Author of The Little Book of Shame: What shame really means, and how to shift from low self-esteem to empowering self-acceptance (available on Amazon).
I teach a new way of working with shame, an emotion that so many of us struggle with. My process begins with showing that defining shame as "I am bad" is incomplete. Instead, shame is better defined as "I'm not good enough to belong." This shift in definition moves the focus from "what's wrong with me?" to "how can I meet my need for acceptance?"
Like 1 in 4 women in the US, I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. It has been my own healing journey in parallel with my vocational pursuits that have led me to this work I am so passionate about offering to the world.
In 2014 I launched TenKeys.org, a holistic healing path for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse – based on more than 7 years of studying the effects of trauma associated with childhood sexual abuse, available treatment options, and emerging research on related topics. In this process, I latched on to shame as one of the most difficult aspects of the injury of CSA, and also of the recovery process.http://www.theshamelady.com
