I recently started managing a group of support engineers while overseeing the strategic operations of our user community at Jama Software.

Managing people allows me to learn new skills and more about policy (How do we get headcount? Why does FMLA matter?), but it's the people I serve that make it worthwhile. I'm really proud of the diverse team we've assembled and hope to steer them in the right direction with both their daily work and their careers. Managing the community combined all the things I love to do: work with people, write articles, edit others' work, troubleshoot problems, and collaborate with colleagues in every department.
