Kristin Garvey

I have been the Executive Director of the Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) since July 2008. ICW's mission is to understand the needs of women in and work strategically both within government and in communities to help bring about positive solutions. Before joining ICW, I worked at the International Center in several capacities including operations, government relations, information technology, program management and training in cross-cultural awareness, etiquette and protocol. I worked closely with the U.S. Department of State, coordinating professional itineraries for leaders from over seventy countries.
I was named a Hoosier Fellow by the Randall Tobias Center for Leadership Excellence in 2010. I have participated in the United Way of Central Indiana’s Executive Women’s Leadership Seriesand the Ardath Burkhart Leadership Program,the Diversity Leadership Academy of Greater Indianapolis, and the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service.
I currently serve on several advisory boards, including the Office of Women’s Health at the Indiana Department of Health, the Integrating Women Leaders Conference Planning Committee, the Race and Cultural Relations Leadership Network and the Women Like Us Foundation. I am Vice President of the board of directors of the National Association of Commissions for Women. I volunteer as an agency evaluator for the United Way of Central Indiana.
I received my M.S. in organizational leadership from Indiana Tech. I received a B.A. from Butler University where I graduated cum laude with high departmental honors in French and International Studies.
I grew up in , a small town in in northeast . I have traveled to , and Canada.
