Kristyn Hernandez
Resident Director in Azusa, California
Hi, I am a graduate student pursuing a Masters degree in College Counseling and Student Development at Azusa Pacific University.
I am devoted to serving and equipping college students for success far beyond their college careers. I am a relationship-oriented person. I desire to walk alongside students to facilitate growth and development through holistic support.
I am also deeply passionate about empowering underrepresented student populations by helping them feel valued, loved, and heard. I want to bring a voice to the voiceless as a social justice ally. I currently coordinate APU's First Generation Student Faculty Mentoring Program and also work as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Center for Global Learning & Engagement.
My interest in internationalization has evolved from my love for other cultures and languages. I have led a missions trip to the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and I have also studied abroad in South Africa. I hope to foster students' enthusiasm for cultural learning in a way that motivates them to take on greater challenges. I am also excited about fitness and teach Zumba in my free time.
I look forward to the opportunity of building upon my skills as a young student affairs professional.
