I am a person living with Type 1 Diabetes in Barbados, a small island in the Caribbean. I was dignoased with Diabetes at the age of 10 years old and for a period of time, i used to feel like diabetes controlled me. I graduated high school, and went on to Univeristy still carrying my diabetes burden. Shartly after i grdauated from the Universifty of Toronto I decided it was time for me to make a change... a change on the way I viewed my diabetes. I then began to volunteer my time at the local Diabetes Association Of Barbados, first working as a coordinator for their summer camp for children with diabetes, and then on whatever other opportunities arose. I travelled to Dubai when i attended the first ever Young Leaders in Diabetes Congress held by the International Diabetes Federation. It was here I was eelected to be the Youth Regional Representative for the North American and Caribbean Region.

This changed my life, and I since have dedicated my life to diabetes. I have dedicated my everything to helping other people with diabetes, both Type 1 and Type 2. I am now completeing my Masters in Public Health and am looking forward to my future in Diabetes and Healthcare.
