Krystal Lake
Editor, Audio Visualist, and Producer in London, United Kingdom
Hi, welcome to my page. I created this "about.me" page to give a more casual / personal side to my profile. It's mainly for people that are planning to work with me or those that liked my work and wanted to know more about me (see what I did there.)
I'm a Video and Audio creative with a drive to explore all I can in this field. I started off doing audio work for a radio station at my University. This was a popular station however it was quite small (space and budget wise.) At the time I thought "ughhh, I wish I started at KISS.FM or Power 105.1" but with this budget mindset and small company size, I had to think creatively to plan how a station so small can make an impact. This little studio pushed me to learn every position in radio; from audio engineering, promotions, music management, training, and DJing, to remembering to clean the office refrigerator every 2 weeks. I had so much responsibility but it felt great because I was a part of a team that was determined to bring a small station up to being a well known NYC radio station. *cues Drakes Started From The Bottom track.* With all I accomplished, I was able to become the director of the whole radio station "Programming Director," and I was able to build my radio team up as well. Later I began to work for other radio stations and companies, which gave me a look into the more professional radio world.
After I became obsessed with audio work, I started to think, "maybe I should match my audio work with visuals as well." This is when I began filming and video editing. I realized that the programs I was using for audio were very similar to the video tools, so the learning curve wasn't too bad. With this knowledge I began making videos for Adidas, Tim & Barry, SneakersnStuff, NTS, WSIA FM, Darker Than Wax, etc.
Audio and Video work is my passion and when I look for future job roles I try to seek for something that will push me and continue to educate me. I feel like this field requires constant creativity and there is no limit to how much you can learn while working a creative role. So my career wish is to continue developing my skills and sharing knowledge with others.
