Karen Seafert
5th and 6th Grade Teacher -- St. Bartholomew, Kawkawlin
My first call was to Bethany Lutheran in Saginaw where I taught grades 3-5. Following that I taught at St. Paul's in Muskego, Wisconsin, in the Learning Center.
After my husband received his first call to Kentucky, I went to work as the Operations Manager for the advertising sales division of the local cable company in Florence, Kentucky.
After moving back to Michigan, I taught 6-8th grade at Christ Lutheran School in Shields until the birth of my first child. I then began work at the MLS Foundation in Saginaw, Michigan, and became their Director. I worked there for 8 years until I received the call to teach at St. Bartholomew.
At St. Bartholomew I teach 5 & 6th grade, 7 & 8th grade math, Lego Mindstorm NXT robots to 5-8, Lego We-Do robots to 1-4, and Art to grades 5-8. It makes for a busy schedule but I love it!
Hobbies and Interests:
I love to make things - whether it’s in the kitchen or quilting, scrapbooking or crafting, if there is a way to make a mess, I’m there. By far, my favorite activity is playing with my kids.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education - Dr. Martin Lutheran College 1992
I have taken continuing education classes at SVSU, through Martin Luther College, and additional classes through the Bay-Arenac ISD.
