KUHLULA SIWEYA

I am Kuhlula Siweya, a young teacher in training at the University of Johannesburg. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Education degree in Senior Phase and FET specialising in Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Natural Sciences. The career of teaching was honestly not my first choice, however, being exposed to the teaching and learning environment in schools during work-integrated learning and from my experience of being a Physical Sciences Tutor at UJ I can proudly say I have recognised the importance of this profession and my love for it has ever since grown exponentially. As a young educator in training (at one of the best Universities in Africa), I have since learned and acquired many skills that will help me adapt to teaching in any kind of school, be it poorly resourced or adequately resourced. Lastly, I strongly believe that changing the current societal, economic, and environmental disparities in South Africa can be achieved through engaging the minds of learners at an early age to elicit within them a sense of duty towards societal impact and reform.
