I am a Junior at the University of Georgia as a Middle Grades Education Major with emphasis in Social Studies and Languauge Arts. I currently live in Athens, but my hometown is Dallas, GA. I graduated with honors from Paulding County High School where I cheered football and competition. I am the big sister to three younger sisters and one younger brother.
I love to read, mostly contemporary American novels, but I will venture into some British Literature. My favoritre genre is historical fiction; I am a history nerd! I am a creative person in my mind, but I cannot draw to save my life. I love to think and create. I love to watch movies, romantic and horror are my favorites. I know, one extreme to the next.
I want to travel the world when I am done with college. There is so much out the to explore and learn from. I am looking forward to traveling to Italy this May for a study abroad in Italy. I will get the wonderful experience of working with Itallian students and learning from them as well as teaching them. This trip will be my first time out of the country, except for the one day I spent in Nassau, Bahamas on a cruise this past summer, which makes me both excited and nervous.
My love for teaching began when I was very young. I always looked up to my teachers and always thought very highly of them. I remember playing school with my younger sister and I was ALWAYS the teacher, which she did not think was fair. As I grew older, I told people that is I wanted to be, besides the occasional Movie Star or brain surgeon. My love for teaching has been taken to an entirely new level since I entered college.
I was able to get the amazing job as an assistant teacher at The Preschool Academy in Athens. I have been there for a year and a half now and I still love it. I work with children from the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years. I enjoy teaching them and watching them learn and grow. It has and still is one awesome experience. This job has made my love for teaching grow and I know that this is what I want to spend the rest of my life doing.
I am looking forward to finishing up my undergraduate degree within the next year and a half, then moving on to receive my Masters Degree. I am looking into going to Auburn Universiy for that degree.
When I complete both degrees I want to work with children in the Middle Grades where ever itis possible, just having the chane to work with such vulnerable and creative min
