I was born when I was very young. Perhaps when Earth herself was very young. One life.

It's good to remember that, in the vastness of the Universe, we have only ever detected any signs of life here, that which we are amidst. No nearby star or ancient galaxy has ever given us a signal that there might be aficionados of the electromagnetic spectrum who broadcast anything. Well, there was one signal, once, in the early days of SETI. Wow! was the human response. A very brief glimmer, I'd say. As far as secular science understands, life evolved just the once here. We are all her children - just the one life.
