Katharine Brigman

Castaic, California

I am currently a student attending Franklin Pierce University. I will be graduating next year and will continue on to graduate school. I have been practicing and researching anthropology for about five years and have been interested in different cultures ever since I knew what a different culture was. I have gone on about 5 archaeological digs and I am about to spend two months working consistently on one dig while compiling some work experience.

I have been taking photographs for over 10 years now and have started a portfolio. I have taken digital photography classes and black and white photography classes. I have two seperate portfolios for my photos, one for digital and one for black and white.

In addition to anthropology and photography I have also studied graphic design for about 10 years and have started on my portfolio. I have used these graphic design skills to make prints and create shirts with my designs on them. I have created some web sites, CD covers, shoe designs and collages.

I have volunteered more than 500 hours to helping special needs young adults and adults in a community called LARC Ranch (Los Angeles Residential Community.) I became their friend and spent many different holidays with them helping with their Christmas show and with their pot lucks. In addition to volunteering at LARC Ranch I also volunteerd at the YMCA to look after the younger children and take them on field trips.
