Katie Fleeman

Berkeley. CA

Katie Fleeman believes in the power of a good story and constantly strives to discover new ones and assist others in telling their own. A Los Angeles native, Katie moved up to the Bay to study at UC Berkeley, from which she graduated with a History degree, her emphasis on 20th century United States.

Katie completed her thesis on the institutionalization of marriage and sex education at UC Berkeley. She also writes a blog about education in prisons and holds a research apprenticeship at the Magnes Collection. She loves to delve into research projects, whether it involves hours in the archives or two dozen tabs on her internet browser. Katie also enjoys helping others craft their own works, whether as a tutor or an editor.

Extracurricular activities include playing in the University of California Marching Band, an organization that has provided her with both numerous leadership opportunities and a wonderful community, and knitting and crocheting quirky and cozy goodies for her loved ones. (Check her out on Ravelry!) She looks forward to all the amazing opportunities she hopes to encounter after graduation!
