John Kukulica

Reno, NV

John Kukulica began his career at the ripe age of 11 when he opened John’s Snack Bar in San Leandro, CA at the Bay-O-Vista Swimming & Tennis Club.

He went on to work for Saga Food Service from 1969 to 1979 first as a Food Service Manager at Fairchild Semi-Conductor in Mountain View and then as District Manager of the Business & Industry Division for the San Francisco Bay Area.

He bought the venerable Iron Horse Restaurant on San Francisco’s famed Maiden Lane in December of 1979 and sold that business in March of 1992. In the meantime he and his partner owned and managed such eateries at The Eagle Café on Pier 39 in San Francisco; Delmonico’s in Atherton, CA, Mac’s Tea Room in Los Altos, Julius’ Castle in San Francisco as well as 7 other infamous restaurants.

In 1987 John met his future wife Ghyslaine at the Iron Horse and they married in 1988. Gigi was born and raised in Reno, NV on 3 acres nestled on the Truckee River about a mile west of downtown Reno. Gigi’s father passed away in October of 1991, and Gigi being an only child together with her husband John and young infant Dominic decided to pull up stakes and move from San Francisco to Reno.

Mr. Kukulica thought he would retire and about a year into retirement Ferenc Szony hired him to run The Top of The Flamingo Hilton in downtown Reno. From there Mr. Kukulica went to Circus Circus, The Airport Plaza Hotel, and the Silver Club Hotel Casino in Sparks and then the Sands Regency in downtown Reno, NV.

Mr. Kukulica was offered the Western Regional Director position for Stolzle-USA, a 225-year-old German company who manufacturers fine lead-free Crystal Stemware in November of 2007. On January 1, 2009 Stolzle sold the US Distribution rights to Stolzle-USA to Anchor Hocking, an American Glass Company who did not retain any of Stolzle-USA’s Regional Directors.

Mr. Kukulica became an Independent Insurance Agent with Aflac in January of 2009 and continues to work with Aflac having opened over 150 accounts with Aflac servicing over 3000 policyholders he has introduced to Aflac.

Mr. Kukulica has consulted for several Hotel Casino’s throughout the Western United States from 2000 until 2008 specializing in Tribal Gaming Properties.

Mr. Kukulica graduated from St. Mary’s College of CA in Moraga CA with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Kukulica loves the outdoors, boating, swimming, hiking, and camping.
