Kurian Joseph

This is me, Kurian. No, I am not from Korea. People often mispronounce my name as Korean assuming that I’m from Korea. I grew up in Kerala, India, a place which prides in its rich cultural heritage and verdant natural beauty; the only place in the world where you can find people eating out of plantain leaves with bare hands.

It was when I pressed the shutter button on my first SLR camera gifted by my Uncle that I discovered my super power. Equipped with this third eye, I could discern and capture the art in life, and the life in art. Thereafter, I became intrigued by how each thing would transform before my viewfinder. That’s how I found my vocation in photography.

When my friends, relatives, or their friends are hosting a party or any other event, I will be their first point of contact. I love to capture special moments, smiles, tones, shades, joy and even grief. In short, I am inspired by life’s smallest details.

My passion for photography inspired me to explore different places in Sydney. I venture out early morning to capture the spectacular sunrise in beaches, and the surreal landscapes. There is little that is more magnificent than the magical sight of the day break in Sydney, the redeeming light coming alive shredding the pall of night.

I have received numerous photography awards and am very proud of my work. The times I am not out, trekking with my cam, I am chained to a desk crunching numbers. That’s right, I work as an accountant. But I still need to use a calculator to add what’s 1+1. (Just kidding).
