living in china for the past 8 years has certainly made me more appreciative of my own country as well as the places where i have sojourned in the past, namely USA and thailand. very appreciative of the chinese people, definitely, but being in a place that is totally different in almost every possible way enhances the memories of the positives more than the negatives of the previous places. and of course, i'll always have a sweet spot for philippines, the country of my birth and young adult years.
