My name is Kyeong Sun (Kevin) Kim and I am an amateur landscape photographer, studying environmental engineering. Since childhood, I have always enjoyed playing outside, for example, a tennis. I love quietly viewing an mouth-opening scenery, beautifully painted as a background on the canvas of our outside world. I just adore the feeling of tranquility I get from the nature. Photography is my way to capture the essence of this feeling, encapsulating within my own perspective. My nerve feels when to remember the atmosphere, power, beauty, and serenity of the places I visit. Chasing the light into night as an opening gate to the reality, I strive to learn more about landscape photography. My works are inspired by a few renowned Physicists such as Carl Sagan, Neil Tyson, Carolyn Porco, and Michio Kaku. And of course, I awe daily at the delightful works by Ptolemy, Gallileo, Newton, and Einstein. Though my interests point to astronomy and photography, I find myself studying Civil Engineering because I love to systematically analyze various components within a civilization, perhaps fundamentally fueled by my motif to interact with the world around me. In order to be involved in this fast-changing world, I decided to minor in an Industrial Engineering, aiming to be at the cutting-edge of this alternating worlds with science and technology. According to scientists, we are living in not a universe but multiverses, trapped in a time- frame of a human being. I found this thought irrigating and even disturbing. And I realized, after a silent moment of thinking, that motivation connects me with the world. People often relate enthusiasm to optimism. No longer at mercy of flowing effortlessly with time, I am happy to know that how I act in this given moment changes the future of my reality. Thus, I am passionate on my work for our better world, even to a distant future. A single simple sample of my principle.
