Kyle Garland
Student, run, and jump in the United States
Hey everyone, my name is Kyle Garland. I am a from Philadelphia, Pa. (Go Birds!!!) Many people that don’t really know me always asks me, “What brings you to UGA? Being that it is so far from home.” My answer is always the same, "Track and Field.” I am a 3-time national track and field champion and have competed for team USA twice in the past 2 years. My international rank in the decathlon in 7 for athletes 19 years old and younger. Track and field has been in my life for a super long time. My dad was a dynamic runner for Northeast high school (in Philadelphia) then later went on to run at temple university. After seeing what my dad had accomplished in track and field, I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Once I started running track at 7 there was no turning back. I quickly began to fall in love with the sport which brings me to where I am now. I am currently an incoming freshman who will be a decathlete on the track and field team and I am looking forward to stepping into the legacy that the head coach has quickly built over the years. Aside from track and field, I am a family man. I love to dance and listen to music and my main goal in life is always to live my best life. Happiness is very contagious and if I can spread it then I will.
