Golden, CO

As a Colorado native, I have spent endless family getaways traversing the state’s serene back-country and many of its peaks. Impressed by its grandeur, I became fascinated with the rocks and minerals that lay inside. At age seven I asked for a gold pan and a sluice box and began prospecting for gold and other minerals. I have climbed all 54 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks, and am well on my way to becoming a member of the Century Club, having summited 75 of its 100 highest peaks. I enjoy many outdoor sports such as cycling, camping, golfing, fishing, rock hounding, and skiing. As an outdoor enthusiast I have thoroughly appreciated many of the resources that the mountains have to offer.

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2003, earning a dual major in Accounting and Finance. Upon graduation I moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where I worked with Resort Group, a property management firm, as an accountant for five years. Although I enjoyed working in Steamboat Springs, I found myself with an itch I could not scratch. I decided it was time to embark on a new journey, one that spoke passionately to me - mining engineering.

I transitioned to Golden, Colorado to pursue a degree in Mining Engineering and began my studies at the Colorado School of Mines in 2011. In 2012 I accepted a seven month Co-Op assignment with Rio Tinto as a member of the North Rim Skarn Underground Group at Kennecott Utah Copper. Today, I continue to intern with Rio Tinto while completing school and I look forward to graduation in December 2013.
