Dr. Victor Frankenstein

I was born in Naples, but was of Genevese decent. My father was very well known and was respected by all who knew him. My mother was the daughter of my father's best friend, Beaufort. As a family, we traveled often. During our travels we came across a girl who lived in poverty, and adopted her. Her name was Elizabeth. We were close in age and were brought up together. Although we were technically brother and sister, we called each other cousins. Along with Elizabeth I had a younger brother William. (Chpt 1). I have always had an eager desire to learn. I was intrigued by the works of Cornelius Agrippa. (Chpt 2, pg 24-25). My father was not very helpful to me, and told me that their works were sad trash. He was never a good father because a father should approve highly and love strongly, but he failed to do so. When I became old enough, I went to college at the University of Ingolstadt to pursue my passion for science. There, I discovered the secret of life and created my own human being. "I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body" (Victor, Chpt 5, pg 42). When I finally finished, however, I was horrified. The creature was so ugly. I ran away from it in horror, and avoided my room for as long as possible. When I went back to my room, the monster wasn't there. I was relieved and thought that he had disappeared for good. I received a letter from my father, telling me that William had been murdered and returned home immediately. When I went to where my brother was found dead, I saw my creature lurking in the woods. At that instant, I knew he had been the one who killed him. My adopted sister Justine had been accused of the murder, though, and was sentenced to death. I became more depressed knowing that I had killed two family members because I created that horrible creature. I decided to travel to Montanvert, hoping that the natural scene would help. When I reached the top of the glacier, I saw the creature coming towards me (Chpt 10, pg 80). The creature told me to listen to him so he could explain everything that had happened. He told me that he had killed William because he knew he was related to me. After William was killed the creature found a picture in his pocket, took it with him and slipped it into a Justine's dress, who was sleeping in a nearby barn (Chpt 16, pg122-123). The creature demanded that I make a new woman creature so he could have a mate. Before leaving to make a new creature,
