We are a young couple in our mid-twenties from Vancouver, Canada that quit our jobs as engineers with a large contracting company in November 2014. The concept of doing a round-the-world trip had always been in the back of my head and the idea further developed after we travelled to Thailand together in February 2014.

We talked about the idea of travelling more and more over the following months. During a work trip to Omaha, NE in September, we volunteered to catch the next plane home (the first flight was overbooked) for a $500 United Airlines credit each. This was the final sign. Thirty minutes later we were both on our phones searching for flights to South America, and then it was booked. It was official! Making that first move (and telling our bosses we are quitting) was the hardest part, after that all we had to do was pack our bags and start our journey.
