Kyra Simpson

Hey there, I’m Kyra.

Bio: 2017 BA, Psychology, UMass Amherst, Multidisciplinary Honors, Extensive research experience, as well as experience as a tutor and teacher’s assistant. Current internship includes working one-on-one with low-income and homeless individuals helping them to attain employment and secure housing.

Goal: Paid Social Work Position - I am interested in working to help individuals work through problems in order to improve their lives, and to work to attain their goals in a supportive and effective manner. I have a passion for helping people who are experiencing the many challenges that life brings, and especially people in vulnerable populations, such as people who are homeless, people with substance abuse issues, people with mental health issues. Society does not afford people in situations like these enough empathy, and they often fall through the cracks before they are given a chance to fulfill their true potential. I want to help these individuals create happy, successful, sustainable lives for themselves.
