I am Leonardo van Beek, and I recently graduated from the M. J. Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University (TCU) on May 2012. I majored in Finance and minored in Economics.
This combined field helped me develop a unique outlook and a strong understanding of managing corporate business operations & resources in different situations, cultures and markets. Furthermore, the finance program at TCU integrated economics, accounting, & management among with its key financial focus on the risk-‐return relationship. I also gained solid knowledge on financial office responsibilities such as raising and allocating funds, cost analysis, forecasting and budgeting, investment management and formulating financial and credit operating policies.
My most recent work experience has been my internship with Bridgeport Ventures on May and June 2011. During my time at Bridgeport Ventures I developed analytical exploration stage mining reports (Financial & Drilling) and assisted with establishing the accounting system in the Toronto headquarters office and at a subsidiary office in Reno, Nevada. I also summarized financial and technical highlights of publicly owned information from companies with potential interest to Bridgeport Ventures using sources such as Intierra, EDGAR (US), and SEDAR (Canada).
TCU's world-‐class business program taught me the fundamentals about corporate finance governance & operations to raise capital for organizations, and my internship allowed me to apply these concepts into the mining industry. I specifically learned about Investment fundamentals practices for developing exploration projects, among other technics to create value for an organization. Furthermore, this combination helped me cultivate an exciting present career goal; to create value for organizations in the investment banking industry by practicing methods to underwrite new debt and equity securities for all types of corporations, and to learn how to best advise stock issuers with their stock placements. I know that great success only happens with hard work and I am ready for this new challenge and very optimistic about achieving my professional goal.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best,
Leonardo van Beek
