La Coumeille

Aude, SW France

I'm an artist and herbalist, living in a tumbledown house deep in the south of France, in the foothills of the Pyrénées, surrounded by nature. I spend a lot of time quite grubby, wandering around with camera in one hand and secateurs in the other. Best of all I love to run down the hill with my happy dogs, yelling at the top of my lungs.
I am immersed in this land, it inspires me to create my art and to work with the plants that surround me. I love to explore that point where art and the natural world meet, like the confluence of two rivers, and become symbiotic.
I make teas, tonics, tinctures, hydrosols and balms using the plants that grow around me from the wildflower meadows to the sun-scorched garrigue.
Over the years I have studied fine art, design and recently I became a certified herbalist. But more than anything I'm an endless apprentice, constantly learning about the medicinal plants that surround me and I've started to grow my own apothecary garden using the permaculture method.
