Lahey Hospital and Medical Center opened its doors in 1923 and administrates a series of physician-led practices throughout northeastern Massachusetts, including in the cities of Burlington and Peabody. In addition to its 24-hour emergency departments and American College of Surgeons-certified level II trauma centers, the hospital also operates a Cerebrovascular Disease Center, the Landsman Heart & Vascular Center, and demographic-based wellness centers. Physicians within the practice also come from a diverse array of medical focuses and subspecialties.
The Medical Center also serves as a teaching hospital and offers a large number of residency and fellowship programs for graduate students at the Tufts University School of Medicine. Programs cover a wide spectrum of disciplines and areas of specialization, and also offer opportunities for continuing medical education credits for new and established physicians.
