A Skosh About Me
(look up ‘skosh.’ you need this word in your life.)
I’m Hannah La Joy Johnston. La Joy is my middle name now. It was my last name for 24 years until I married my superhero Mr. Raymond Johnston over 2 1/2 years ago on July 20, 2013.
This is the spot I’m supposed to tell you about me. I think you’ll be able to find out more about me from reading my posts, since, really, any human being should be hard to summarize in a paragraph or two.
Instead, allow me tell you about some of the things I love and dislike most, maybe that will help:
One of my all time heroes/role models/persons I hold in highest admiration is Peter Pan. I should have been 25 in the 1940s. If I could live anywhere it would be in Rivendell, Middle Earth. I love Jesus with all my heart and owe all I am to Him. Stories are one of the most important things in the world, so I tell and write them often. My husband, dogs and family are my dearest friends apart from several friends who have become like family. I love plants, flower gardens (with fountains) and quiet places to wander in my thoughts. I am a college speech performance teacher and adore my students. I enjoy working hard and conquering personal limitations. I long to live gracefully, usefully, imaginatively and to make a true difference in the lives of the people I am lucky enough to influence.
I am terrified of sharks, struggle with nightmares regularly, and dislike bugs of just about any variety. Life hasn’t always been easy with its many changes and dark valleys, but my God doesn’t change and is the great Father of Lights for the dark times. Psalm 27 has uplifted me more than any other passage – especially v. 13-14: “13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
My life’s motto taken from Sir J. M. Barrie – “To LIVE is an awfully big adventure!”
P.S. For those of you who read the earlier version of this, my pup Mindy’s paw is finally healing!!
