Lake Legal
Law Firm in Leeds
At Lake Legal, we are a boutique family law firm based in Leeds, specialising solely in private family law. Since founding the firm in 2009, we’ve built our reputation on offering expert legal advice that is not only technically sound but also delivered with compassion, discretion, and a practical mindset. Our office is in Park House on Park Square West, right in the heart of Leeds, and we are fully regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Our work covers every aspect of family law – from divorce, separation, and financial settlements, to child arrangements, domestic abuse cases, cohabitation disputes, and the breakdown of civil partnerships. Many of our cases involve high-net-worth individuals, business ownership, trusts, and international elements. We’re also experienced in drafting and negotiating pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. We place a strong emphasis on avoiding unnecessary conflict, which is why we offer a range of dispute resolution methods such as mediation, collaborative law, private financial dispute resolution hearings, and arbitration.
I’m Lyn Ayrton, the founder and arbitration partner at Lake Legal. With almost 35 years’ experience in family law, I’m proud to be recognised in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame and to be consistently ranked as a leader in my field by Chambers UK. Alongside me is Claire Glaister, our managing partner, who brings her own wealth of expertise in complex financial matters. We’re supported by a talented and growing team, including solicitors like Brooke Dempsey and Hollie Burnett, who have been praised for their strength, empathy, and commitment to client care.
We’ve worked hard to earn our Tier 1 rankings in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, and we’re proud that our firm has been shortlisted for Family Law Firm of the Year at the Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards. But what truly sets us apart is the way we work. We put our clients first – always. We don’t believe in stirring up battles or dragging matters through the courts unnecessarily. Instead, we offer clear, honest advice and work towards practical outcomes that protect our clients' interests while minimising stress and cost.
