Save Lake Westcolang
Here is why:
- Boats affect water quality: They add metals and chemicals to the water. Leaks of oil and unused fuel are spilled into the lake water.
- Boats affect water clarity: Constant motor usage churns up the lake bottom in shallow areas. This action stirs up the lake sediment and nutrients (phosphorus) that reach the surface of the water where they feed algae and cause algae blooms. This stirring can also decrease the water clarity because of additional particles suspended in the water.
- Boats create shoreline erosion. More waves mean more shore erosion
- Our children swim in water full of gasoline and oil.
The board meeting will vote on this issue on April 13, 2013. I wll post results on this webpage.
