La'Markus R. Cook

Educator, Consultant, and Social Activist in Atlanta, Georgia

La'Markus R. Cook is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. Since 2009, he has been actively serving both the community and church throughout Atlanta, Georgia. In 2003, La’Markus R. Cook was license to preach as a Baptist minister at Union Chapel M. B. Church in Huntsville, Alabama, and in 2016 was ordained to serve at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, the spiritual home of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr..

Currently, Rev. Cook is studying for a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree with a concentration in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership at Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a graduate of the Interdenominational Theological Center—Morehouse School of Religion, in Atlanta, Georgia, with, both, a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) concentration in theology, and the Master of Arts in Christian Education (M.A.C.E.) degree. He also graduated from the American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Theology and a minor in religious studies. Rev. Cook also works with youth and young adults at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Rev. Cook is responsible for leading voter registration initiatives throughout Metropolitan Atlanta. He coordinated voter registration drives in the Atlanta University Center (AUC), Ebenezer Baptist Church, and the historic West End. He collaborated with the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections and organized plans that brought the voter identification (ID) machines along with the voter simulator machines to the Interdenominational Theological Center, Spelman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College.

Rev. Cook is dedicated to nurturing, leading, and educating youth and young adults while pursuing justice and equality, and serving as an advocate for alienated, disenfranchised, marginalized persons. For that reason, Rev. Cook also develops and facilitates seminars and workshops for young adults and children that introduce them to theological concepts and theories for transforming their lives and communities.
