I’m Dr. Lamia Gueddouh, an architect and researcher specializing in contemporary architecture, cultural heritage, and the built environment. I hold a PhD in Architecture from the University of Architecture and Urbanism “Ion Mincu” in Bucharest and am currently an Associate Researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies for the Culture and Civilization of the Levant (ISACCL) and at the Centre Régional Francophone de Recherches Avancées en Sciences Sociales (CEREFREA).
My research explores the relationships between architecture, culture, history, identity, and sustainability, with a particular focus on the Maghreb and the contemporary reinterpretation of vernacular heritage. I am interested in how architecture can respond to present-day social and environmental challenges while remaining rooted in the memory and character of place.
My interests also extend to politics, writing, diplomacy, and the arts, which continuously enrich my understanding of architecture as both a cultural expression and a tool for social transformation.
I regularly contribute to academic publications, conferences, and public discussions on architecture, heritage, territory, and the future of Mediterranean societies.
