Former Juventus head coach Andrea Pirlo told how in 2007 his Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso ate a live snail on a bet and won € 10,000.
Andrea Pirlo told this story as part of the documentary "All or Nothing: Juventus". On the eve of the match for the Italian Super Cup with Napoli, which was then led by Gattuso, Pirlo recalled the circumstances of that dispute.
"We made a bet once. Do you know the snails, the ones without a shell, so big? We offered Rino to eat her alive, and we would give him €10,000, and then he could donate this money to fitness trainers who trained with us. He took a snail and swallowed it. After that, he wanted to kill us all," Pirlo quotes bookmaker-ratings.com.
Gattuso also told about this story earlier.
"The day before the important Milan— Manchester United game, we were standing in a circle during the warm-up. There was a snail lying on the ground. They all said I wasn't brave enough to eat her alive. I said, "OK, 500 euros from each of you, and I will do it."
I wanted to present the award to four fitness trainers who had internships with us.
I took a snail, put it in my mouth and swallowed it!
