Lamont Harrell is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC. Working in politics for over 15 years Mr. Harrell decided to create the board game "Election Day: The Game" to combine his love for gaming and his passion of getting people involved in politics. In doing so he realized that there was little to no support for African Americans entering game design. After discovering a few game titles designed by African Americans he founded the Black Game Makers Association (BGMA) as a way to pool knowledge and resources. BGMA currently is a coalition of game designers using all mediums; Video games, mobile games, board games, card games, etc. BGMA seeks to identify Black Game Makers, provide them with support, and showcase their work to the general public.
