The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain is a world-leading youth arts organisation. It was established in 1956 as the first youth theatre in the world and over the past 56 years it has nurtured the talent of hundreds of thousands of young people. At the National Youth Theatre they inspire, train, and showcase exceptional performers and theatre technicians aged 14-25 from Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Each year they reach out across the UK to discover diverse new talent. I am fortunate and blessed to be one of the few 500 out of 5000 who were offered a place at National Youth Theatre.
My name is Lance Matongo, aged 16 and living in Southampton. From a young age I have always had a burning passion for performing arts, acting being my heart’s desire. I have always taken every opportunity to be on stage and am currently involved with my local Theatre Nuffield. This has opened many doors and a few prime examples are my involvement with Hampshire Youth Theatre 2012, the staged version of Tiger Tale directed by Patrick Sanford. I am currently in rehearsals for Three Musketeers.
To become a full member with National Youth Theatre I am obliged to take part in an intensive two-week course this August. This course is potentially life changing, teaching me key skills and enhancing my talent. Unfortunately the training costs are a substantial £800. This includes accommodation in London and the course fees for two weeks. I would now like to ask for everyone’s assistance in raising the funds for this once in a life-time opportunity. Your kind and most generous donations big or small would be greatly appreciated.
