Lanita is the Director of Development and Institutional Partnerships for CalMatters, a nonpartisan media start-up that covers California politics and policies. Previously she was Deputy Director of EdSource, a media and research organization focused on legislative and programmatic reforms aimed at improving California's K-12 through university public education systems. She was the founder and chief strategist of Digital Media Solutions Group, a boutique agency that provided digital media and content strategy services, with a focus on branding and social marketing to optimize engagement with existing and new clients. She was the founding director of the UC Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism's Knight Digital Media Center, a new skills and leadership fellowship program for mid-career journalists.
