Lara Sveinsson
Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Hey! My name's Lara and I'm a 20 year old Law/Arts student, double majoring in International Relations and French.
I grew up in sleepy Adelaide, alternating between sports and musical instruments or jumping between drama and debating, always making up in enthusiasm what I lacked in a actual skill.
When I finished school in 2012 I gave my mother a heart attack by running off to spend a year in a Malawian village; teaching and generally realising how little I know about the world. Sleeping on 36 hour bus journeys, showering from buckets or even sharing all personal space with a parade of goats and chickens and dirty children did nothing to cure my chronic itchy feet.
I'm a passionate activist, a mediocre flautist and a determined idealist. I want to live fully and purposefully, so I write, I read, I run, I explore. I'm never happier than when I'm outside under stars in the oldest clothes I own, with a chai tea, folk music and an old book. I love markets, big conversations and Nutella, and can't stand shoes or word counts.
My dreams tend to change daily, but I'm studying what I am because I know legal change and inclusive justice can make the world better and fairer, and I know that - whether on the macro or the micro scale - I want to be a part of that.
