Lara

Hi there, my name is Lara De Jesus. I am a high school student currently living in Toronto, Canada, though I dream of moving to Europe someday! My career goal is to become a dentist, as I am interested in science, especially biology.

Along with sparking an interest in human biology, my two years of high school experience have also allowed me to discover a passion for philosophy and religious studies, as well as a slight distaste for math and history. As for English studies, I enjoy and find myself to be particularly strong in areas of idea-based analysis, as well as grammar and spelling. On the other hand, I struggle with writing fluidly and writing fiction.

Outside of class, I play the flute in the school band, which consumes approximately two hours every week, though much more time during performance seasons. I am also involved with Reach for the Top, meet with the Science Club and attend “Tea & Theology” weekly, and work and volunteer at Annunciation Parish.

Aside from school, extra-curricular activities, and my part-time job, I spend time listening to music, reading, doing yoga, watching Netflix (I love The Office!), and playing with my puppy. I am also a fan of musical theatre, and already have plans to see a show every month for the next year!

Overall, I strive to enjoy every moment of my day-to-days as a high school student. I don’t lose sight of my goals and aspirations, I try to learn from every experience, and I always aim to see the glass half-full.
