Lara Manara

Malta

Born in 1992 in Malta, Manara has always showed an interest in art, whether it was sketching cartoons or colouring on walls. From an early age, she was exposed to art and learnt the brief history on art, how to study from live subjects and how to experiment with different mediums.

Currently attending the Malta College of Art Science and Technology Art and Design Institute in Mosta, she is sitting for her Bachelors degree in Fine Art, after obtaining a Higher National Diploma in Fine Arts in 2012.

Manara has also taken part in several collective exhibitions, such as ‘Flavours’ and 'Refreshments will be provided' end of school year exhibitions at MCAST Art and Design Institute in 2011 and 2012, the Malta Design Week held within the Old University, Valletta in 2011, ‘The Cottage EXPO- Art and Music Fusion’ at Madliena Cottage, Madliena and a site specific project commissioned for the Maltese folklore music festival 'Ghanafest' in 2012.

Manara has also done voluntary work; creating and setting up a Christmas crib for the Verdala Palace gardens in Buskett in 2011 and producing paintings to decorate the interior of Bormla Primary School, Bormla and Safi Primary school in Safi during 2010 and 2011. Manara has also done some promotional work for Jam Agency, Malta and PharmaMT. She has also attended dance lessons from the age of three, focusing mainly on ballet whilst also practicing lyrical jazz, contemporary and hip-hop at the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Ballet. She has taken part in numerous shows over the years, most recently including ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Tumbelina’ and ‘Coppelia’.
