Lara Wazz

Hello there! My name is Lara and I am studying at Ryerson university in Toronto, Canada, in the Creative Industries program. It is an interdisciplinary program, the first of its kind in North America that allows you to specialize in specific fields within the Creative Industries while providing us with business specialization. I am currently specializing in Media Business and Graphics Communications, while also earning my minor in Communication and Design. I consider myself to be extremely outgoing, with a special passion for new, fun projects in design and travelling!

What I’ve done: I’ve worked with Event Management companies such as Global Events Management in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to organize one of the biggest international annual rugby event (The Rugby 7s) and gain sponsors like Baskin robins and Toys “R” Us. I’m also a freelance graphic designer where I’ve had the opportunity to work with small start-up companies, designing and strengthening brands, magazines, business cards and advertisements for clients. In addition, I also have experience working with and leading a team to come up with an innovation and create prototypes for a mobile application. In this experience, I was able to work directly with Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto, specifically the marketing management team.

Why I do It? I’ve worked on diverse projects over the years which only comes to portray how passionate I am about experimenting with new mediums and embracing my skills in different fields. All these projects not only allow me to go above and beyond to and amaze the teams I work with, but it also grants the opportunity to develop interpersonal communication skills, as well as providing me with first-hand experience meeting and dealing with clients, putting their words into tangible forms and bringing their ideas to life.

Down the road, I would like to be more involved in the design industry, to further my experience designing for clients and exploiting my creativity. I also have a passion and curiosity for more exotic designs, which include but are not limited to mobile application designs, car wraps and video graphics. I am always open to new experiences and learning new mediums!
