Larissa Chism
Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., LaRissa Chism, MD holds active, unrestricted licenses to practice medicine in both Pennsylvania and Indiana. Currently serving the Elkhart County, Indiana, community as an Oaklawn Psychiatric Center Staff Psychiatrist LaRissa Chism, MD specializes in both inpatient and outpatient care for adults, inclusive of elderly and pregnant patients. LaRissa Chism, MD devotes her time and energy to helping patients with a vast array of mental health and addiction disorders. At Oaklawn Psychiatric Center, LaRissa Chism, MD’s responsibilities include crisis and risk evaluation, medication management, and chronic mental illness treatment. After graduating from John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana, LaRissa Chism, MD attended Ann Arbor’s University of Michigan, where she later earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. During her four-year tenure at the state’s oldest academic institution, LaRissa Chism, MD received a Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholarship, a grant awarded to highly motivated graduate students, to study the effects of lead pollution in South Africa. LaRissa Chism, MD then enrolled in a post-baccalaureate program at Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit in Pittsburgh. Upon continuing her educational pursuits at the prestigious Temple University School of Medicine, LaRissa Chism, MD earned her medical degree and began a residency in General Psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. LaRissa Chism, MD’s additional post-graduate training and specialized coursework consisted of a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry and Electroconvulsive Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic.
