Larry Blumenstyk

Hey, I’m Larry Blumenstyk. I’m a Director of Admissions Programs with Learning Associates living in Morristown, New Jersey. I am a fan of college, admissions, and sports. I’m also interested in politics and soccer. You can read my blog with a click on the button above.

I served as a member and county chairperson of the Cornell Alumni Secondary School Committee (which is now the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network – CAAAN). As an interviewer, I met with hundreds of applicants and gained a unique perspective into the college admissions process. When my son began his career as a student-athlete at Cornell, attending both home and away soccer games for four years strengthened my interest in modern college life and in helping college applicants. While our daughter was a student-athlete at Colby College the experience was similar, although the locations for those four years were the NESCAC campuses instead of the Ivies.

Through our professional associations, I attend and presents at national and regional conferences, symposia, seminars, and workshops to keep up to date on college admissions requirements and trends. I am a Certified Educational Planner (AICEP), a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), a member of the Higher Education Consultant’s Association (HECA), a member of the New Jersey Association for College Admissions Counseling (NJACAC) and a member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC). Within IECA, I have served on the Ad Hoc Business Practices Committee (2013-2014) and as chairperson of the College Subcommittee of the Ad Hoc Professional Liaison Committee. I am currently a member of the IECA College Committee. Larry has been a guest instructor at IECA’s Summer Training Institute. I have also organized and moderated panels for breakout sessions at National Conferences of IECA and HECA.
