Over the past four decades, Larry Ansell has established and developed multiple businesses across various industries. Graduating from Monmouth University in 1978, he went to work for a Fortune 500 company eventually segueing into the real estate field.
In the early 1980's he began acquiring apartment and office buildings, a shopping center, hotels, land, restaurant buildings, and co-founded various businesses.

In 1988 he co-founded Hara Broadcasting Inc with his brother Donn, acquiring the radio station WAAV AM 980 and started WAAV FM 94.1 in Wilmington, North Carolina, eventually selling to Cumulus Broadcasting in 1997.

In 1990 he co-founded Daynet Inc, a national radio network with partners Donn Ansell, Alan Colmes and Barry Farber, expanding the radio network to 425 affiliates, until it was sold to a major network in 1993.

In 1994 he co-founded DHA Communications Inc with his brother Donn, acquiring the radio station WENC AM 1220 in Whiteville, North Carolina, eventually leasing to a radio operations business family.
