Lars Jacob

Student and Volunteer in Maastricht

Hey! I’m Lars, a student in Maastricht. Below I'll tell a bit about myself, in a short format so reading everything won't take too long ;)

What I Enjoy

I have a passion for getting involved with decision making to shape policy for the better I also like to volunteer for various organisation, and I love public speaking, about subjects I am fond of.

Educational Experience

I am a second year student at International Business, currently working on finishing my 2A portfolio. In my studies I am driven to be a hard-working and reliable teammate people can count on. Back in high school I have taken specialties in the Business and Social Studies. In Business I engaged in setting up fictional business plans, managing different cash flows and in Social Studies I learnt how to discuss civics, economics and ultimatelly policy making.

Work Experience

Outside school, you’ll find me working as a waiter at a roadside hotel. It’s a great place for picking up new communication skills and meeting all sorts of people. I frequently make use of my German skills here which helps me improve my German language skills over time.

Involvement

In my free time, I’m active in the Limburg youth scene as a board member at Jongeren Netwerk Limburg (JNL), where I help more young people get involved in society, I do this by organising events on the organisation and positioning of youth councils at their respective high school, giving children opportunities to develop debating skills through action and helping councils come up with solutions on how to improve youth care. Additionally I volunteer at different causes on an irregular basis. Think of the FoodBank at LandBouwBelang (LBB) and various cleanup activities.

Fun Fact

I’m also learning Norwegian! I used to dream about moving there (and giving up my Dutch nationality), but I have since found my love for The Netherlands, but I still want to go there for my exchange!
