Few circumstances allow someone to enter your home and kill you, and yet still receive society's sympathy. This scenario shows exactly why law is one of the most powerful tools we posses. It allows the government to confront criminals in their own home, and take them down. Business law while less death is just as brutal . My upbringing in a family-owned business has been extremely important in shaping my understanding of how laws influence the business world. From cut throat wall street to your local mom and pop baker shop, they both have one key protecter: lawyers. These legal professionals are the warriors of the business world. Instead of using bullets and guns, their arsenal is lawsuits and compensatory damages. I am starting on a journey into the battlefield of law to protect the ideas and products of companies. My focus is to specialize in Intellectual Property (IP) and patent law, offering protection to small businesses with unique and important ideas. To prepare for law school, I plan get my degrees in both Political Science and Criminal Justice, along with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. My interest in law began during my childhood, as I witnessed the struggles small businesses go through to protect their intellectual property. I remember listening to conversations between my father and our lawyer about strategies to fight the theft of our ideas and products. After all was said and done the lawyer (who went to UGA’s Law School) Protected my family and the company. Events like this is where I started to develop my dream of becoming a lawyer so I can protect others just as my family was protected.
