Latame Phillips
Certified Business Entrepreneur Coach, Author, and TEDx Speaker in San Diego
Dr. Latame Phillips is a U.S. Army combat veteran, business executive, TEDx speaker, best-selling author, and certified business entrepreneur coach.
Born in Mombasa, Kenya, and raised in San Diego, California, Phillips grew up in a tight-knit immigrant community that shaped his worldview from an early age. His academic journey led him to the University of Southern California, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance and Management, followed by an MBA and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Entrepreneurship and Business Administration from Trinity University.
Before building his coaching and speaking career, Dr. Latame Phillips served his country on the frontlines of Operation Enduring Iraqi Freedom. The discipline, accountability, and leadership forged through military service became the foundation of everything he has built since.
After his military career, Latame Phillips rose through corporate America, holding prominent leadership roles in wealth management at Halliburton and other major organizations. It was there that he encountered a defining moment — witnessing firsthand the deep social inequities embedded in the financial system. That experience redirected his purpose: rather than building wealth for the few, he would spend his career empowering others to build it for themselves.
Today, Dr. Phillips works as a Certified Business Entrepreneur Coach, helping entrepreneurs and business owners master advanced wealth-building strategies and unlock their full potential. His approach is grounded in real corporate experience, academic rigor, and the unshakable belief that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary change.
A sought-after voice on leadership, resilience, and empowerment, Dr. Latame Phillips has spoken on the TEDx stage at TEDxBotham Jean Blvd and served as a featured speaker and panelist at PepsiCo's Juneteenth Kickoff National Event.
As a best-selling author, Latame Phillips contributed to The Heart of a Black Man: Inspiring Stories of Triumph and Resilience — a compilation of 30 Black men sharing candid, powerful stories of the Black male experience in America. He is also the author of If Only for One Night: What If You Could Have, One... More... Night?
Beyond his professional life, Phillips is a devoted single father of five — a role he considers his greatest. His personal journey, from childhood poverty to Ph.D., from the frontlines of combat to the boardrooms of corporate America, makes him one of the most authentic and compelling voices in leadership and personal development today.
"I press on because I am the change that I want to see. I know that one man can change the world, one person at a time."
