I have always considered myself an outgoing person who isn’t afraid to surround myself with new people, surroundings, and cultures. As a child I talked way too much, despite my speech impediment; the talking didn’t slow down even after I fixed my impediment. Every time that I meet a new person, I begin to show my extraverted personality by introducing myself and asking questions about themselves. I always enjoy discovering common interests that I share with a new person because often times, the common interest is the first step of a new friendship. My people skills have not only helped me make friends, but it has also helped me with jobs, clubs, interviews, and college.
As a host and server at a restaurant you have to be able to be welcoming, take criticism, and communicate with others. I believe that my skill set of these traits is what made me good at this job. I also was the president of two service clubs and even founded the Veterans club at my high school; here, I had to use my unreserved personality to be able to speak in assemblies, recruit new members, and talk to companies that I was partnering with. I also believe that my aptitude for talking has benefited me through my college experience. Through interviews, rushing for a sorority, and going to school in a new state, my confident and sociable attitude made the transition easier than I had expected. I have my parents to thank for raising me with manners and the ability to be able to talk to strangers in a respectful way because without this skill, I don’t think that I would be where I am today or have the aspirations that I am working towards in life.
I believe the main way I express my creativity and my personality is through talking. There is one other way I believe I also express my personality when I am not talking. I express my life through art. While I am not an artist, I have experience in oil and acrylic paint, ceramics, sculptures, and more. I paint on denim, on canvases for my room and for others, and on other unusual objects. I love having pieces of my art around me and in my room because when people ask me about the painting on the wall, I get to tell them that I made the painting and that I made it. Most people are surprised that I am capable of this talent, even though it's not even close to a perfect talent, but it is rewarding to feel other people's appreciation towards my work.
