Ana Varela
Boston, MA
My name is Ana Varela, and I’m a 22 year-old Latina. I was born in Ruiz, Nayarit in Mexico later moved to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon and lastly I made my way to Boston, MA! I attended High School and college up here and last May I graduated with a degree in Marketing and Public Relations and hope they can be my foundation into a very exciting and meaningful career.
I have always wanted to start a blog, but the problem was I got extremely lazy or just super “busy.” Although I love reading blogs and I have many things in my head I would like to share and write about I always kept putting it off.
But now after so many years of putting it off I am simply too inspired and too determine to start a blog and keep going with it and this is why I started latinaflare.com.
Being a latina living in New England can be difficult, at least it was for me for a long time. I found it difficult to find my voice and find others I could relate to simply because in the school I attended growing up wasn’t as diverse as other elementary and middle schools around the area. For that reason I was very shy, quiet, and unable to find my voice. I couldn’t act “American” because I didn’t look the part but I couldn’t be latina because there were only about 6 of us and sadly we didn’t all click.
Luckily in high school I was able to find a good diverse group of friends get out of my shell and truly embrace my own culture while welcoming the culture of the country that adopted me.
Latinaflare.com in my pinion is a mix of both my American and Mexican culture. And I think this is what being a good Latina is all about. Embracing two cultures and making something great!
In this blog I talk about anything and everything I find relevant or of importance to me. I love fashion, (but please note I am not a size zero) I love trying natural products, and taking care of your body inside and out in the most healthy and inexpensive way I can find. So expect to find these themes and many more while browsing around.
I hope many people like this page and most importantly that I am able to connect and learn from others that have similar thoughts and ideas as mine!
