Laura Hodgdon

Oregon, United States

For as long as I can remember, I've always loved getting lost in my imagination. Whatever my mind could dream up I would write it out, draw it, sculpt it, and so on. These days my medium is tapestry weaving, an ancient art form that is seeing a renaissance. Taking inspiration from the beauty of the natural world, my work uses nature and myth to illustrate our human expereince. The expansive freedom of the view from a mountaintop, the journey of the flowing river, the moment of insight upon waking at sunrise, all of these symbols from nature can give us comfort and inspiration in our day to day lives. Through my art and teaching, I want to help people reconnect with the natural world and their human nature.
